Citizens of Pevely rest assured with the knowledge that a well-trained cadre of policemen, firefighters and EMTs are there to meet their public safety needs. With regard to police protection, the professional law enforcement operation of the City is organized to encompass an acute sensitivity to community desires and a willingness to serve the City in a variety of ways. The Pevely Police Department consists of fourteen full-time professional police officers trained and certified through the Missouri Department of Public Safety. Officers are supported and assisted by ten reservists and five full-time police dispatchers. Dispatchers handle all calls for emergency service within the City and a neighboring community, including 911 calls through the City's enhanced 911 system.

Fire protection is provided through the Dunklin Fire Protection District whose main fire station lies within Pevely's City Limits. The district has a chief, a fire marshal, three full-time firefighters and twenty-three volunteers. Currently the city has a class 6 ISO insurance rating and anticipates a lower designation in the near future.

Ambulance service is provided through a district, which also maintains a modern station within the City Limits of Pevely. The Station is manned and equipped 24 hours a day and Citizens can expect prompt response to all points within the City's corporate boundary. In addition to the foregoing public safety services, the City has in place a state-of-the-art early warning system with digital voice messaging to alert and warn the public in advance of impending storms and other emergency situations.
