The City of Pevely collectively bargains for all of its residents with qualified trash haulers for trash and recycling. Waste Management Inc. is currently providing the service and includes once a week pick-up for trash and recycling.

Trash is picked up on Monday, with each resident allowed three 35-gallon containers, or they may lease the large roller containers from Waste Management for an additional $3.00 per month.  You are allowed one bulk item each week (does not include appliances or TV's).

Recycling is picked up on Thursdays. Recycling bins are available at city hall.  Recycling totes on wheels are available by calling Waste Management Inc. at 636-282-4607.    See list of allowed recyclable material.

Yard waste service is available curbside through Waste Management for an additional fee of $3.00 per month (3 month minimum) by calling 314-506-4730.

Waste Management will also pick up timbers and railroad ties with the following conditions:
They cannot be over 4 feet long, no more than 4 at a time and must have one green sticker for the group.

There may be some delays due to the heavy snows that we occassionaly experience.

Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 3 cubic yard of landfill space, 2 barrels of oil, and 4000 kilowatt hours of electricity. This is enough energy to power the average American home for 5 months.

Approximately 88% of the energy is saved when plastic is made from recycled plastic rather than from the raw materials of gas and oil.

We use over 80,000,000,000 aluminum soda cans every year. Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television for 3 hours. (EPA)
