The City of Pevely has been a member of the Economic Development Corporation of Jefferson County since its inception. The City of Pevely maintains and updates the City’s Comprehensive plan for the future of the community. In 2006, the Board of Aldermen invited citizens to participate in a “Visioning” process to identify the needs of the community. The Citizens were able to identify four areas of need:

• A new City Hall  -- COMPLETED!!!!
• Better shopping along Highway Z
• Improvements to Highway Z
• Improvements to City Parks

The Board of Alderman is hoping to improve the retail shopping opportunities for the eastern half of Jefferson County at our I-55/Highway Z interchange..

The main east-west arterial is Highway Z.  A $20,000 study was adopted by the Board in 2009 that will guide future enhancements to the highway to keep accessibility high and allow traffic to run smoothly.

The City of Pevely has consistently welcomed and encourage new businesses to locate here. The city is home to over 1300 manufacturing jobs, with major industry including Verallia (glass bottles), Metaltek (Pentagon memorial), Dow Chemical (foam insulation), Edge Manufacturing (cutting blades), Heiser Aero Space, and United Engineering.  Midwest Motorcycle located their home office/distribution facility here in 2006.  More acreage is available throughout the city with easy accessibility to I-55, and both the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and Union Pacific (UP) rail lines.

Over 1,000 new residential lots are available for new homes.
